Should I Learn Drums or Guitar First? A Beginner’s Dilemma

Thinking about picking up an instrument but torn between guitar and drums? You’re not alone.

Both are incredibly rewarding, but which is right for you?

Why choose drums?

Immediate physicality — hit something and it makes sound.

Builds rhythm and coordination from day one.

Easier to sound good early on (with guidance).

Guitar often has a steeper early learning curve, with finger strength and chord shapes to conquer. Drums, on the other hand, allow you to start with simple beats and gradually build confidence.

Still unsure? Try both! But if rhythm excites you more than melody, drums might be the better place to start.

Still deciding?
